Non-Human Lab Members
Spot
Assistant (to the) Lab Manager
Spot is an 8 year old beagle mix who, as a trained service dog, takes his job very seriously! His daily tasks include napping in Lindsey’s office, demanding belly rubs from Alex, and making friends around campus. His research interests, like the rest of the lab, also revolve around fish, though Spot is most concerned with investigating the palatability of different kinds of fish.
Spot’s favorite fish are the frozen minnow treats his mom gets him, which totally don’t look exactly like zebrafish at all…
Felix
Lindsey’s Remote Lab Assistant
Felix was advertised on the shelter website as a 10lb domestic shorthair. Lindsey is pleased to announce that he is now a 17lb longhaired spoiled brat, with the vet saying he is at a good weight, he’s “just a big boy.” Felix enjoys chasing his stuffed mouse, roughhousing with Henry, and trying to convince Spot to play with him.
His favorite fish is tuna because it’s tasty.

Tucker
Alex’s Esteemed Visiting Scholar
Tucker is a five year old German shorthaired pointer who only exists in two states: sleep and run.
Remi & Romi
Alex’s Remote Lab Assistants
Remi and Romi (if you can tell them apart) are a bonded pair. They share the house with Tucker. They have one purpose only, which is to annoy him. When they are not busy doing that, they enjoy watching cat TV, aka birds through the window.
Barnacle
Jackie’s Remote Lab Assistant
It's up for debate whether Barnacle is a kitten or a squirrel. Her favorite past times include attacking toys on strings, trash (particularly tin foil balls and bread ties), human hands, and her dog bestie Cassie.
Her favorite fish is the depicted trout on a string, which she has gone from fearing as a small kitten, to readily attacking as a bigger kitten.
Maple
Maple is quite possibly the only creature capable of keeping up with Tucker. As such, she is held in high regard in the lab.
Her favorite fish is rainbow trout.

Goya
Nathan’s Remote Lab Assistant
Goya is a 1 year old rescue with a PhD in being silly. His favorite past times include attacking pencils, stealing Q-tips, chasing bottle caps, and cuddling up on the couch with his mom and dad.
Goya’s favorite fish is Barni the betta fish, who he loves to watch swim around in his tank every day.
